Hello, Salaam, and Servus!
Nice to have you here. I’m Sultan. I was born and brought up in Lahore – the beating heart and cultural capital of Pakistan. I did my Bachelor’s in Mass Communication from the Forman Christian College – A Chartered University, Lahore, in 2017. The very next year, I moved to Germany to pursue my Master’s in Media and Communication Science from the Technische Universität Ilmenau. I graduated in 2020.
During my Bachelor’s, I worked as a Digital Content Writer at Dunya News, Lahore, along with taking many assignments as a freelancer. In May 2021, I began working as a Research Assistant for the dtec.bw and NextGeneration EU research and development project Media for Peace (M4P) at the Universität der Bundeswehr München (UniBw). The multi-disciplinary project focuses on investigating issues and possibilities associated with journalistic practices in conflict and post-conflict countries, with particular focus on Afghanistan and Lebanon.
I remained affiliated with UniBw until March 2023 and then shifted to the Katholische Universität Eichstätt-Ingolstadt (KU) where I continue to work at the M4P project as a Research Assistant. I am also pursuing my PhD at the KU, titled ‘Practicing Constructive Journalism in Pakistan: Exploring Opportunities and Challenges’, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Annika Sehl.
When not indulged in conducting groundbreaking journalistic research or bragging about it at conferences, I usually travel around the world, read books, try international cuisines, or hang out with the three people I know. In the Latest section of this site, you can learn about what I’ve been up to recently. To view a selection of (what I believe to be really good) photographs that I have taken over the years, head over to the Gallery.
To know about my day-to-day and travels, you’re welcome to connect via Insta. If you prefer sticking only with my professional side, give a follow on Twitter/X or LinkedIn or reach out via E-mail.
Thanks for your visit. Let’s stay in touch 😉
